The Morgantown Police Department, in an effort to help underprivileged children in Morgantown, held a fund raising Road Block called (SHOP WITH A COP) on February 2,08 from 8:00am till 12:00pm. Thanks to the great people of this county, We were able to raise $1200 in cash. The Morgantown Police Department will be using the funds raised from this road block and others like it this year to take children Christmas shopping next December.
The Officers of Morgantown wants to use this program as a means to help as many children of this community as possible that otherwise may not receive Christmas presents. And to let younger children interact with Police Officers in a positive way.
Chief Phelps said that he and his officers all want to make a difference in our community. All of the Officers of the Morgantown Police Department will be donating there time to help with the road blocks. Our officers are not just employees of the City of Morgantown; we are caring citizens of this community. We have been blessed with good jobs said Chief Phelps - we just want to make Christmas morning a little brighter for a few children, and by holding 4 separate road block fund raisers through out this year, maybe we can do just that.
We ask that if you get a chance to come through our
(Shop with a Cop - Road Block) in the future, please take a moment to make a small donation - because it's for a worthy cause. The Morgantown Police Department is starting early this year to help make 2008 a safe and good year for Butler Co. Youth.
